Hnefatafl: the Game of the Vikings now has its own little shop! This will be an on-line outlet for all things hnefatafl. Currently on the virtual shelves there are three different versions of hnefatafl: brandub, tablut and tawlbwrdd, all hand-made out of wood with glass pieces. There is also a virtual shelf prepared for the new booklet An Introduction to Hnefatafl, the first batch of which should be arriving this week.

The shop is starting small, but more product lines will be added in the future. There are pawns and other gaming pieces on their way here from Germany, so that the shop can offer a variety of pieces in the games. Laser-cut plywood boards will be added to the product list, allowing larger games to be sold. And it's my intention to sell pieces and boards separately, so that true hnefatafl enthusiasts can mix and match the boards and pieces to their own preference.

Followers of the Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus pages have also seen me practice my Fimo modelling skills. Back in 2007 I used to sell replica hnefatafl sets, likenesses of hnefatafl sets found at Birka. I'm hoping to start making small numbers of replica sets and boards again, based on archaeological finds from around Europe. These should appeal to re-enactors, who could present hnefatafl with an authentic look.

So please come into the little shop and have a look around, share this article and spread the word, and keep coming back to see what new products have been added to the shop, and I'm going to be very busy with it over the coming months!
