The time for hnefatafl tournaments is approaching rapidly. Two tournaments have been confirmed for next month: the English National Hnefatafl tournament, and the one-day tournament at the Chess Olympiad in Tromsø, Norway.

The English National Hnefatafl Championship 2014 will take place at Sutton Hoo on Sunday 10th August, starting at 10:30 a.m. If you happen to be there on Saturday, there will be hnefatafl training, along with other games such as nine men's morris, quoits and dice. See http://ealdfaeder.org/v03/hnefatafl.html for more details.

The one-day tournament at Tromsø will take place on the Chess Olympiad's rest day, 7th August. Exact details are difficult to obtain as the tournament is not yet listed on the Chess Olympiad's official page - https://chess24.com/en/olympiad2014 - but they will hopefully be available at some point between now and then.

The World Quickplay Hnefatafl Tournament on Fetlar, in Scotland's Shetland Islands, usually takes place in August, but so far their web site (http://www.fetlar.org/hnefatafl-world-championship) indicates "2014 World Championship date to be confirmed". I'll keep an eye on that situation and post any news here.
