An Annotated Tablut Game
Thursday, 3rd September 2015
Shortly after I posted about Tim Millar's annotations to a July brandub game last week, I noticed that he had created a similar commentary for a tablut game. Regular readers of the blog might know that tablut is my favourite hnefatafl game, so I find this annotated game very interesting.
The game, again from July, was played between Steve Lonsdale and Altti Pirsoo, on the web site http://aagenielsen.dk/. After a long battle, the game ended in a victory for Lonsdale.
The commentary introduces the idea of a "windmill" formation for the attackers, which is partially formed during the game. There is also an interesting partial pin which does not prevent the pinned piece from moving altogether, but limits its movement to one axis.
You can see the match and commentary at http://on.fb.me/1FkxawN.
