This is a simple family tree document, on two pages of A4 paper. It shows the probable descent of hnefatafl from petteia and ludus latrunculorum, and the descent of other versions from this original hnefatafl game. The first page contains mainly historic versions of hnefatafl, while the second has more information on the modern version.

Variants whose names are in bold are those for which we have definitive rules, either because they're modern, or because their historic rules have survivied. The layout of "Hnefatafl" itself is conjectural; 13x13 boards were popular in mediaeval times and no other version has adopted this size of board.
