Tromsø Hnefatafl Tournament Date Confirmed

7th August 2014 has been confirmed for a Hnefatafl tournament to be held during the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromsø. It will be a one-day tournament conforming to the rules of rapid chess. The tournament will be organised by German Tromsø resident Frank Prohl.
Dr. René Gralla, a journalist based in Hamburg and a fan of hnefatafl, has campaigned for a hnefatafl event at the Chess Olympiad, and the Olympiad's organising committee agree to his proposal. The date of the tournament, a Thursday, is the first "free day" of the Olympiad, when chess matches will not be taking place.
The hnefatafl tournament's organiser, Frank Pohl, is a German national living in Tromsø, and is the founder of the first club of Hnefatafl north of the Polar Circle; that Tromsø-based club is called "The Tromsø Tafl Laug".
